Flower Girls!!!

So, on Wednesday I met with my two beautiful flower girls and their Mom's (along with my mom) at David's Bridal and we picked out their dresses. Going into it I didn't really know what I wanted. I thought that I was leaning towards one of those cute little poofy dresses with a satin sash in the bridesmaid color tied around the middle. However, we wound up picking something completely different. I really like what the girls chose. The more we looked I really didn't mind if they chose the same dress, or different ones. They wound up liking the same one! I like it too because the beading at the top of their dress really matches mine. So here are a few pics!

And the final choice was...

Aren't they the sweetest things you ever seen. Flower girls Danielle and Becca.

Here is more of an up close view of the dress. You can see the beading and the cute little straps.

Look at Becca peaking out of the dressing room. Hehe.

Anyway, while we were there we looked over at the bridesmaid dresses (which I made a decision FINALLY a couple of weeks ago.) When I originally went to David's and tried some on they didn't have the dress I ultimately picked in my color, watermelon. It just so happened that they had it when we went so I tried the dress on and posed with my flower girls and you can sorta see what they will look like together!

So there you have it! It was really a lot of fun getting out and doing this. The flower girls get along really well, the mom's do too. I love planning this wedding. I know things will get stressful as we get closer but it really is fun.

So now I gotta know...what are your thoughts on the flower girl dresses, oh and the bridesmaid dress....

Ideas??

Since my new school is a Christian school I am super excited that I can actually decorate my room with Christian inspired things. I know a girl who paints super cute canvases with Bible verse quotes on them. She's going to make me one for my classroom! So, I have some ideas of Bible verses in mind, but was wondering if any of you had any suggestions. I want the verse to center around teaching, children, etc.

She is also going to make me a larger canvas to hang in my new kitchen after I'm married. Any suggestions of a Bible verse to put on that canvas?

Today has been a yuck day with all the rain, but I'm looking forward to teaching a booty-kickin' Jazzercise circuit class tonight!

Have a great afternoon!

Time to move on...

So today I went up to Graves and said some sad good-byes. I said good-bye to my first school. So today my mom, Chris and I packed up. We went ahead and moved it on to St. George's today so we wouldn't have to move it twice.

Here's the door to my new life at St. George's!

Name plate outside the door (I'm a dork for taking a picture of this).

The view of my new classroom from the door.

View of the classroom from the front of the room. Those two large doors house the largest storage closet I've ever seen!

Where the kids will store their things.

All of my four years of teaching in those bins! Those smaller storage spaces will hold my teaching books. P.S. Look at those huge windows! Lots of other teachers have valance curtains in cute prints...I think I want some! Anyone who can sew wanna help?

And the HUGE closet! I have a lot to go through, and was able to store some of my stuff in there, but I'm going to completely reorganize that. I'm not used to all that storage!

So, I'm one tired cookie tonight. Couldn't have done it without Chris and my Mom. There is still so much to do, but it will be a blast!

Now, I can't just blog about all of my fun things, I need to blog about Chris' too. This past weekend was the first time Chris took his car out and raced since he hurt his motor! He did great! I will say riding in the car for 12 hours is NOT great. I didn't mind doing it for him though. All of his racing times were okay, he knows he can improve and he will! He is going to be doing some testing at a track in Holly Springs, MS pretty soon. Then the next race is in Chicago (only an 8 hour drive, whew) July 16 - 18 (the 18th is Chris' birthday too! So he'll be doing what he loves most (besides me hehe) on his birthday). Here are some pictures from the weekend.

There's red!

The driver and his car. :)

Me and my hot shot drag racer. :)

Great weekend. But it was nice to be home too! :)

Some exciting news!

So as I mentioned in the last post, I have some exciting news. I wanted to wait because I needed to tell the appropriate people before I could say anything. Today I officially accepted a position teaching at St. George's Independent School.

I am very excited, but it is also bitter sweet because I have spent the past four years teaching for Memphis City Schools for Graves Elementary. I have met so many wonderful people teaching at Graves, I've had experiences that have changed me as a teacher and a person, and I have grown more as a teacher...I have Graves to thank for that. This opportunity came about thanks to a great teacher friend. It feels natural. It feels like the next step. It's change, and I'm ready for it.

So here's the skinny on the new job. I will be teaching for St. George's Memphis Campus, Third grade. There is one section of each grade there. Each classroom has a lead teacher (me) and an associate teacher. So great! Here is a pic of the school.

Like I said before, it is a bitter sweet decision. I will miss all of my friends at Graves!! :)

I promise I'll blog more.

Not that I think you all are sitting at the edge of your seats to see what I will blog about next or anything!

Anyway, school is out! Time to relax, plan a wedding, remodel a house, and.......some other exciting news that I will share later. :) (NO I'M NOT PREGNANT). Just because some of you might thing that! So all that being said, let me catch you up on what's been going on the past few weeks.

Well first of all, Chris and I have been chugging right a long on painting the house. We recently just picked out the color and finished painting our room. It's Tiffany's blue and I am in LOOOOVE with the color. Here are a few pictures.

So now we have all the rooms painted that will be getting new flooring. We've gotten an estimate and now have to go meet with a wholesaler to see if they have the color laminate and tile that we like. After floor....furniture! Chris and I also recently registered. Can I just tell you that was SO MUCH FUN! Those of you who know me, you know I don't cook. But I registered for the coolest stuff that is going to make me want to cook!

Also, we had an engagement party on May 22 at my mom's lovely boss' house. It was a truly wonderful night. Here are a few pictures of the fun!

Chris and I arriving at the party

Playing the Newlywed Game. We did pretty good too! What's my favorite movie?

Bridesmaids (Mandy, Kim, and MOH Katie) along with one precious flower girl Danielle!

My Uncle and my mom with Chris and I

Lastly, the Sunday after our engagement party my former softball coach from Collierville High School is retiring this year. He's worked hard, and deserves it but I can tell you that program will miss him dearly!!
Coach Bradley and Katie "Sue"

At Coach's retirement party I got to meet up with some players who played with me and it was super fun being the "oldies" at this get together. We seriously were the only ones there who weren't giggly girls! Ahhh, to be young again...

CiAnna, Rachel and I

Oldies, but goodies....CiAnna and I :)

So that's what has been going on. I need to be better about this whole blog thing. You would think with summer vacay I would have loads of time. Stay tuned...I do have some exciting news to share....until then..........................HAPPY SUMMER!
