These days...

...it seems as if I like changing my blog design rather than blogging.

Things have been busy. I got home from a conference on Ethical Literacy for school that was in Omaha, NE. Yep...NEBRASKA. Never been there in my life. It was a neat little town. Some things were a little weird. For example, the sun did not completely set until 10:00pm. The sun also rose again sometime around 5:00am. Weird right?

It was a good conference, with lots to learn. Just tiring. A girl from work and myself drove to Little Rock on Tuesday, June 21st in the afternoon. We stayed their for the night, ate at pizza place downtown, and then went to bed to get ready for our flight out of Little Rock airport at 6:25am the next morning. We flew out of Little Rock because it was much cheaper. The drive to Little Rock really was not bad at all, and in considering flights in the future, if it makes it cheaper, I'll definitely take advantage. Anyway...after flying all day connecting through Dallas and then off to Omaha, it was such a long day. Especially when the sun doesn't set until 10! We landed, got to our lodging, and then grabbed a quick bite to eat and headed straight into meetings. These meetings took up most of our time for the next three days. I was able to get in a couple of runs while I was there. The weather was nice. 65-75 degrees. I hadn't run outside since Memorial Day in Memphis. I will say this though, it is hard to run in a city! Stopping at every crosswalk definitely affects your momentum. The college world series was also going on in Omaha while I was there. I ran down by the stadium to check out the hustle and bustle. There were a lot of people in town to attend those games. We left Friday afternoon. Same route, connecting through Dallas to Little Rock. We got in about 10pm. Yikes! We drove straight on through. After dropping off my travel partner, I got home right at 1:00am. Oh was I so glad to be home!

So now that I'm home, June is coming quickly to a close. July is right upon us. There are so many things to look forward to in July!

1. Wedding video watch party with Chris' family (July 2)
2. Painting party with friends! (July 5th)
3. Katie Grisham's Birthday (July 9th)
4. BEACH TRIP! (July 16 - 23)
5. Chris' birthday (July 18th)

You read that correctly, yes we are going to the BEACH. I am so excited that I came across this deal for a condo in the Phoenix East condo complex. We are so excited, and I am glad we will be out of town to celebrate Chris' birthday. He wants to go to a water park, and I'm happy to do that! It sounds like fun!

We are leaving little Bella with her GiGi (aka my mom) for the week. Please pray she can handle a dog and her own 2 cats for a week!

So as we approach July, I have to remember to relish my vacation time from work. The new school year will be starting before we know it! :)

Happy Summer Y'all!

Hot Dog Double Post!

Watch this....

November 18th....

CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

Sweet Sweet Summertime!

I love being a teacher, really I do! I love the fact that it's 2:00 and I'm still in my PJ's. (This is not normal, I promise!) I love the fact that my sweet puppers is beside me snoozin'. I love that I was able to learn new Jazzercise routines to put into my set for tonight. LOVE SUMMER!

Not lovin' the heat. Jeeze!

So, I decided, since I have so many valuable readers who are just BEGGING to know what has been going on with my summer so far I would make 2 lists. A list of what I have done and a list of what is to come! I know, you can't stand your excitement. :)

Things I've done so far:

1. Enjoyed a long weekend with my husband. He took Memorial Day off from work and spent it with me. :)

2. Completely redid the shelving in my closet. I had way outgrown just one hanging rack so we raised one and installed another. I have SO much more room now. I've also added the little boxes below. Check out the pic:

3. Taught my dog how to swim, and now she loves to swim in the lake when I take her to the park. See the pic!

4. Bought a grill so that now we can enjoy grilled food that is also way better for you. I love that Chris LEARNED to grill!

5. Got a Costco membership! Yay!

6. Had all of my students and parents over to my house!

7. Cleaned and organized!!!

Things to look forward to:

1. Taking Bella to puppy class. (Can't come soon enough).

2. Going to a painting party tomorrow night!

3. Tiling the back splash in my kitchen.

4. Going to Omaha, NE on a conference for school on June 22nd- 24th.

5. GOING TO THE BEACH!! (We didn't know if we were going to be able to do it!) July 16-23. We are going to Orange Beach, Alabama. :)

I'm sure both of these lists will grow as the summer rolls on. I'm looking forward to getting our wedding video on Wednesday also. It was supposed to be ready this weekend and wasn't. Boo. But I guess if I've waited this long, I can wait a few more days.

So today has been lazy. Just lounging, watching TV, and doing laundry.

Happy Summer Y'all! Stay Cool!

A lot to catch up on...

I haven't blogged since April 3rd!! Gosh!

Well let me do a little catch up...

In April, I had some pretty great things happen.

First, on April 16th (my sweet cousin's birthday), I ran my first 5k. I had been training for a couple of months. I finished in 31 minutes, and somehow I miraculously got first place in my age group. LOL. I walked away with a medal, and I am pretty proud of it! During mile 2 of my run, I started to cry (all while running and trying to keep a good pace). I cried I think mostly because I never thought I could be a runner. But, I am definitely becoming one! Am I ready for a half marathon? Heck no! But, is it seeming more and more like something I could accomplish one day? Sure. One thing is certain, it is hard to train outside in this heat during the summer! Treadmill training it is!

Second, on Aprili 20th, I turned 27. Crazy! Next year will be my 10 year high school reunion! Time flies by! I had a really nice birthday weekend filled with my family (my cousin and I always celebrate together, we've shared more birthday cakes than I can remember.) My sweet friends also took me out to dinner at Longhorn, and despite the long wait, we had a blast and enjoyed some free appetizers because of our wait. To top that dinner off, my friends surprised me with a fat free yogurt cake from TCBY. YUM.

Thirdly, in April, I also began training with the 5th graders at my school to run their own 5k. It all finished with a 5k at Shelby Farms on May 6th.

That being said, on to May...

May came with the hustle and bustle of the end of a wonderful school year. I haven't cried about a class since I student taught! So in May there were SEVERAL events.

5th Grade 5k: Amazing! I saw some pretty awesome students train, and cross that finish line. I ran back and finished that race several times so I could finish with all of the little lovlies I trained with.

St. George's graduation: As a faculty member now, we all attend the senior graduation dressed in graduation robes. Since I didn't cross the stage when I got my masters, it was nice to wear the robe with the "hood" that you receive with your masters. :)

5th Grade "Crossing": This ceremony was for the 5th graders who will be crossing over to the middle school next year. A very sentimental and touching ceremony!!!

Field Day/Class Parties: I have never experienced such an amazingly organized, fun filled day! And of course, our class party was a hit!

Lower School End of Year Party: This was for just faculty and staff. It was catered by Swanky's Taco shop and super yummy! It was nice getting to hang out with all of my co-workers. It was held on the lawn of the Germantown campus.

Elementary Division Party: Yep, ANOTHER party. This was a nice little get together at my supervisors house. We hung out by her pool enjoyed drinks and good conversation. I even got some good sun!

So as you can see May had been slammed.

Now as we enter June things seem to be slowing down a bit. This Sunday I am having all of my parents and students over to my house for a nice get together. I also will be leaving for a conference that my school is sending me to in Omaha, NE. I've never been to Nebraska! In July we are trying to book a condo in Destin for a getaway.

Hopefully now that I have more free time, I'll be able to blog more. Hope y'all's summer is going great so far!
