What a Whirl!

I haven't been too good about posting that much here lately. I've been running 90 to nothing the past few days. I'm ready for things to settle down...but that won't be happening any time soon!

So, in the past few days the flooring people have begun installing our floor. We are putting wood (laminate) in every part of the house except the bathrooms, kitchen, and sitting area. The rest of the house is getting 20x20 tile floor. We decided to help speed the process along we would rip up the carpet ourselves, move furniture, and etc. WHEW, hard work! Anyway, here are some before and after pictures SO FAR. They are actually working on it as we speak and I can't wait to go by tonight and see their progress.

Here is the living room before the carpet was ripped up.

After the carpet was ripped up, and flooring in boxes waiting to be installed!

So what are your thoughts? I happen to be in looooove with this floor. I can't wait to see the finished project! We have gone to working just 2-3 times a week on the house to EVERYDAY. It's been tough. Last night Chris was hanging ceiling fans until about 11:30. Yikes!

Here's some other big news. Our furniture is being delivered on WEDNESDAY! I'm so excited to see it in the house. You know I will be posting pictures! Then on Saturday....I'm moving in! Now, this is bittersweet. I am so excited to get in the house and really start unpacking, but I am sad about leaving home. I know everything will be okay...it's just different. I'm glad to be moving in before the school year begins, and with a new job. Wow. So much to accomplish. Please pray for me :)

I will update as much as I can in the next few days! Wish me luck!

Keep on truckin'

I've gotta keep working! No more lazy relaxing days for me. HELLO! New job, new house, wedding.....AHHH! Anyway, today I went up to school to get some things in order and I feel pretty good about the work I did! I was met with a pleasant surprise as I opened the door to my classroom. My name plate outside my door was changed....took me by surprise!

Yep...that says, "Burleson." (Excuse the green tint, my camera on my phone doesn't take the best quality.) I'm starting the year out as Burleson because it will be easier on the kids and literally only a month and a half will I be "Chrostowski." I don't think that'll jinx my marriage. ;) Anyway...my associate teacher is Mrs. Bayzie. I just love her to death. She is so sweet and I can't wait to start planning with her. In fact tomorrow I am going to meet her at school so she can see the room she hasn't seen yet! She's very excited, and so am I! So the following are some pictures of how the room is shaping up. I think it's really starting to look more and more like a classroom. I had a lot of organizing to do, but it's coming right a long!

My teaching table station. That little table behind there is for all my teacher things!

Library area. Believe it or not, those are all St. George's books! I had to store all mine in the closet because they already had so many!

So as you can see, I've gotten everything arranged how I pretty much want it. Now it's on to decorating. (The fun part!) It's coming along really well!

Yesterday Chris and I went and met with the flooring people and finalized the flooring. It has been picked and will arrive Monday. They should start installing soon after that. Looks like this weekends task will be ripping up carpet! We are going to get ceramic tile in the kitchen and sitting room area. The remainder of the house (besides the bathrooms which already have ceramic tile) will be wood (laminate). So, here is what we selected!

Again, ignore that green tint, but this is the tile. The squares will actually be much bigger (20x20). We picked this tile because it will hopefully hide dirt and will also complement the green in the kitchen very nicely!

And here is a sample of our laminate wood flooring! It's called black canyon cherry. It's so rich and dark. I looooooove it!

I just can't tell you how excited I am to see this floor put down. Once the flooring begins, Chris and I will pick out furniture and once that is delivered and settled I will be moving in. I know traditionally you aren't supposed to wait until after your married, but between a new job, and a wedding I just couldn't see myself moving in the middle of all that. So, no haters please! Ha!

Anyway, tell me your thoughts on the classroom....and the flooring! I'd love the feedback!

The home improvements continue!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful July 4th! This year it was very low key for me. Chris and I took advantage of his extra time off work to get a lot done in the house. We worked both Saturday and Sunday and accomplished a lot. We also bought sparklers for the wedding along with some other fireworks that Chris really enjoyed shooting off Sunday night. My neighborhood had a little cove party on Sunday. So we spent Sunday evening eating BBQ, hanging with the neighbors, and watching everyone shoot off their fireworks. It was nice though, I was so tired from painting! Saturday after Jazzercise my mom came out to the house and helped me get going on painting the master bathroom. That room was the HARDEST room in the house to paint. So many doorways, angles, and high ceilings! Thankfully Chris came home early from work and helped us knock a lot of it out. Here is the finished product in the master bathroom.

Toilet area....I know you really wanted to see this.

Shower and tub area...see those crazy angles!

So, we were pretty tired after Saturday. We decided to push through and work the next day too (July 4th) and I took on the project of painting the other smaller bathroom at the house, and Chris hung light fixtures and started working on organizing the garage. We do have a lot to do still, but this week we are finalizing flooring and that makes me sooooo excited! Here are pictures of the bathroom I painted BY MYSELF and the light Chris hung.

This is the color I chose. Chocolate Truffle. Yum.

And the lovely light Chris hung for over our kitchen table (once we buy one) it matches the hallway light and the buffet light over the kitchen sink.

So that's what's been going on in the home improvement department!

Last Friday I went up to St. George's to start getting some things organized in my classroom. Well, I did accomplish a lot, however, I really want to get to work because the 4th grade teacher next door is DONE in her room! I know I still have plenty of time but seeing a completed classroom overwhelms me! I think tomorrow morning I'm going to head up and finish up the organizing so that I can start on the decorating. I also found out last Friday who the associate teacher who will be working with me is. I'm very excited to be working with her, and I can't wait to meet with her in the classroom and start planning!

It's 109 days until the wedding, and while that seems like a lot...I know it will go by fast. I really just want everything to run smoothly, keep a calm head, and enjoy this time!

Happy Blogging Everyone!
