Seven on Saturday

So everyone is always posting their "Five on Friday" and I missed out on Friday so I decided to do a "Seven on Saturday." I haven't been blogging much here lately, but things have been craaaaaazy in the last couple of weeks. So, I know you all are just dying to read all of this stuff about me. Hehe.

1. I am obsessed with my polar watch that I wear when I teach Jazzercise. It is a way for me to track how hard I am working during class, the amount of calories I've burned, and the range of my heart rate. All of this information that the watch provides me helps me to better plan a smooth class for my students so that they can burn a whole mess of calories. So far, my highest calorie burning amount has been 803 in an hour. WHEW.

2. I just cleaned out the kitchen cabinets here at the house. Chris had some really random bachelor things in this house. Keyword there is "had." I just took 5 bags of trash out to the trash can outside. I feel sooooo much better knowing all of that is done. It's a task that has been needing to be done for quite awhile.

3. I'm starting to freak out about all of the wedding tasks that need to be done before this wedding that will take place in 70 DAYS! I need to finish invitations, meet with the photographer, meet with the DJ, premarital counseling, and lots and lots of other things!

4. I am both excited and nervous for Monday morning when I will begin teaching at SGM this school year. We had our parent meeting on Thursday night and it was great to see the parents of these wonderful students I'll be teaching this year. I am also very happy to be working with a super sweet associate teacher this year. Monday morning each homeroom is going to wear a college t-shirt that their homeroom represents. For example, my 3rd grade homeroom is Rhodes College so I will be wearing my red Rhodes shirt with khakis. It's kind of nice not to have to think about what to wear on Monday!

5. Khakis. I didn't have a good pair of long pants khakis. I looked at Target and a couple of other places after teaching Jazzercise this morning. I was just going to head home but decided to make one more stop by Gap. I found THE MOST comfortable pair of khakis there. I wound up getting a pair of normal color khakis and a slightly darker color. They are hip slung fit and they just feel so good on. I have heard that on Gap online you can order other colors in that fit! I will definitely be ordering some of those in the future. Oh, and a bonus is that when I got to the register the lady told me that Gap card members get 40% off. BONUS!

6. Canvases. I am totally in love with canvas art. Most recently Mackenzie Neel (my mom's boss' daughter) painted 4 for me. Two with Bible verses for my home, one with a Bible verse for my classroom, and one more canvas for my bedroom that says "Always Kiss Me Goodnight." They are amazing, she is soooo talented.

7. Big Brother 12. Okay so this season apparently I have gotten Chris totally hooked. For those of you who haven't been watching, it's totally worth the time. In fact it's what I look forward too most to help me relax in the evening! Chris is so obsessed that he subscribed to the live feed where you can watch what is going on in the Big Brother house at all times. Now he's convinced he is going to apply to be on the show next season....yeah.....right....

So there you have it, my 7 on Saturday. I hope you all have a blessed weekend. I'm enjoying mine so far and looking forward to spending the rest of the weekend resting up for my kiddos coming on Monday. Stay tuned for pictures of my classroom and my students!

Pretty Big Update!

I know I haven't posted any pictures of the finished floors, new furniture, and me all moved in! I'm so very excited. I've been very stressed lately too, just because of a new job, new house, and a wedding to plan. Every once in awhile I take some deep breaths and bring myself back to earth! So anyway, this post is going to be picture heavy, but I wanted to let you all see the pretty much (always a work in progress) finished product! So, here is your mini tour of our new home!

Sitting Area (Where we spend most of our time.)

Sitting Area/Kitchen (Look how awesome the tile turned out!)

Kitchen Area

The living room.

The Office (Chris and I each have a shelf, his is overloaded! He has so much keepsake type things. Where can you store this stuff???)

Off the kitchen full bathroom

Guest Bedroom (I've registered for new bedding, and excuse the mess on the bed, we just finished hanging blinds in there!)

View of one hallway heading towards sitting area.

View of other hallway leading through living room towards the master bedroom.

THE NEW REFRIGERATOR (Those of you who don't know I HATED the old one!)

Master Bedroom (From the door)

Master Bedroom (View from another corner)

Another view of master bedroom, check out the new sign above the bed! (Thanks Mackenzie!)

Master Bathroom

And the MASTER CLOSET!

So there you have it! A quick tour! We've already had guests over which was super exciting. Kim, Megan and Ryan came over for dinner and games last Friday. Katie, Brad, Becca, and Hayden brought us a YUMMY dinner last Sunday night. My mom came over Wednesday and I cooked a Mexican dinner for her! Tonight Chris' mom and sister are coming over for spaghetti. I know it sounds simple, but I'm making the sauce and everything....oh and strawberry shortcake for dessert! Yum.

I'd love to hear y'alls thoughts on the house! We are so proud, but we still have a lot that we want to accomplish. I'm very happy!

Wanted to share...

apart of my Bible study with you this morning.

I am working through the book What Happens When Women Walk in Faith by Lysa Terkeurst and part of our assignment today was to thank God for the people in your life (both good and bad experiences) for shaping you as a person. Because, let's face it, without these people, we wouldn't be who we are. So I wanted to share my prayer I wrote down with you:

Dear God,

Help me to not dwell on the past. Help me to move past the people who have hurt me and use these experiences to develop my character. Thank you for blessing me with the positive people in my life who carry me through those tough moments by using your Grace and love.

Amen.

I felt inspired to share this prayer with you, in hopes that maybe it would help someone else like it helped me today.

I know I have a lot to catch you up on, but for today...this post will suffice.
